Science Club Success with CREST Superstars!
Last summer term, thanks to a grant from the Richmond Scientific Society, the Chase Bridge Science Club was able to purchase a range of equipment and supplies. This allowed the club to take on a series of hands-on investigations set by the CREST Superstars Award.
The CREST programme is designed to spark curiosity and inspire young people by encouraging them to explore the world around them through practical activities. Our club—made up of 30 enthusiastic children aged 8 to 11—rose to the challenge with energy and imagination.
Over the course of the term, pupils built and tested rafts, designed and flew kites, experimented with different glue recipes, and even delved into the fascinating world of forensic science by studying fingerprints with magnifying glasses provided by RSS. Each task gave the children opportunities not just to learn about scientific concepts, but also to practise essential skills such as predicting outcomes, recording results carefully, and drawing thoughtful conclusions.
In total, the club completed six different activities, leading them to receive their CREST Superstar Award.
This has been a hugely rewarding experience for the children, and we are grateful to the Richmond Scientific Society for their support in helping nurture the next generation of scientists.
